Mission
Elevate the Product as well as our Guests and Employees
Company Overview
INGREDIENTS MATTER
“Ingredients Matter” isn’t just a slogan; it reflects our constant focus on a superior product that makes a real difference, both to our guests as well as the environment. In fact, it’s core to our mission to play a leading role in progressing beyond the harmful practices of industrial agriculture to pursue a more sustainable and healthier future.
GRASS-FED FREE-RANGE BEEF
Our USDA-certified organic, grass-fed, free-range beef is among the most wholesome available anywhere. Unlike conventional industrially produced grain-fed beef, it is free of antibiotics, pesticides, and other chemicals; contains more nutrients; has a healthy balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids; and is low in calories and saturated fat.
Our beef is also better for the environment. Our cattle are raised on free-range pastures, subsisting entirely on a diet of diverse, naturally occurring grasses, every acre of which consumes nearly 900 pounds of CO² each year. Corn – the standard feed for conventional beef – removes little carbon from the atmosphere, and at an industrial scale, requires the intensive use of harmful, petroleum-based fertilizers as well as fossil-fuel-burning heavy machinery to encourage its growth.
SUSTAINABLE STRUCTURES
We are committed to building our restaurants in an environmentally sustainable manner. We use high efficiency equipment and we finish our restaurants with renewable, non-polluting materials such as bamboo, sorghum, and recycled/recyclable materials. Our franchisees also typically pursue “LEED” (environmentally friendly) certification for our restaurant build-outs (for more information on LEED, visit usgbc.org).
OPERATING SUSTAINABLY
We operate our restaurants with the environment in mind. We donate waste olive oil for conversion into bio-diesel, recycle store waste, and use high-post-consumer content paper products. We even encourage each of our partner stores to purchase Clean Energy Offset Credits to offset each store’s environmental footprint (visit carbonfund.org or nativeenergy.com).
SETTING A HIGHER STANDARD
For us, an elevated product and an elevated guest experience means setting a higher standard for health and our impact on the environment, both inside our restaurants and beyond.
